HOMETOWN HERO BANNER

We are excited to announce that the 2026 Hometown Heroes Banner Program is going to start taling orders on February 1, 2026. This program is a joint effort between the Leesburg Town Council and VFW Post 1177 of Loudoun County to honor and recognize our brave military men and women who have served and are serving our country. Through this program, banners will be displayed throughout Freedom Park in Leesburg featuring the name and image of a local hero who has served or is currently serving in the military.

Wreaths Across America 2025

On December 13, 2025, the VFW Post 1177 Color Guard, along with fellow Post members, proudly participated in the annual Wreaths Across America ceremony. The day began at 12:00 PM at Balls Bluff National Cemetery in Leesburg and concluded at 2:00 PM with wreaths being laid at Mt. Zion Cemetery, also in Leesburg. This meaningful event honored the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans. Thank you to all VFW Post 1177 members who took the time to participate and represent our Post with dignity and respect.

Sweats For Vets Boxing Day 2025

Thank you to all who came out and supported the annual Sweat for Vets Boxing Day on December 26, 2025. It was another huge success and it would not have been possible without the volunteers from the community comimg out to assist.

April 1, 2026 Membership Meeting

We will be hosting the April Membership Meeting at the Post Home on April 1, 2026,at 7:30 PM. This will be our annual formal award ceremony for the Patriots Pen and Voice of Democracy winners. The requested uniform for this meeting will be the VFW Dress Uniform (white shirt / black trousers / black shoes and post garrison cap) A virtual attendance option will be sent out to the membership. We are located at 401 Old Waterford Rd NW, Leesburg, VA 20176.

Veteran Outreach

Coming home does not mean the battle is over. With over 10 times the amount of veterans lost to suicide than to combat operations in the same time period, there has never been a more important time to TAKE A STAND and DO something to support our veterans!! If you or someone you know is suffering from PTSD, we have people that have shared a similar experience and are ready to help.

Congratulations to this year's winners of Loudoun County VFW Post 1177's Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen competitions, along with the VFW Loudoun County, Teachers of the Year, Scout of the Year, and Loudoun County Public Servant Awards!!! This year we had entries from all over Loudoun County across all of these categories, and the judging was very, very difficult! These Winners and Honorable Mentions represent the BEST of Loudoun County!! They will all be honored at the 1 April 2026 VFW Post Meeting at 7:30pm! The Loudoun VFW Post Home is located at 401 Old Waterford Rd. in Leesburg Virginia.

Post 7916 - April 2021 #Still Serving Post of the Month

The members of VFW Post 7916 in Occoquan, Virginia, have demonstrated a commitment to their mission of “Honoring the Dead by Helping the Living” throughout the pandemic. The Post made sure members received health and welfare checks so that those most at-risk, or in need, received essentials. They also delivered food to residents of the town and donated to a local food bank.
