We are excited to announce that the 2025 Hometown Heroes Banner Program is now open.This program is a joint effort between the Leesburg Town Council and VFW Post 1177 of Loudoun County to honor and recognize our brave military men and women who have served and are serving our country. Through this program, banners will be displayed throughout Freedom Park in Leesburg featuring the name and image of a local hero who has served or is currently serving in the military.

2025 Annual Awards Ceremony

Post Commander Ray Delpesche presented the commendations for the winners of the Voice of Democracy competition, the Patriots Pen competition, the Teacher of the Year award, the Public Servant Awards, and the Scout of the Year Award. Thanks to all who participated in this event.

National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day Commemo

On July 23, 2025, VFW Post 1177 Honor Guard members participated in the 18th Annual National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day Commemoration held at the Cannon House in Washington, DC. The members who participated were the Honor Guard Captain Jason Cound, Sr. Vice Commander Lee Gortman, Quartermaster Les Flores, Past Commander Max Gutierrez and Past Honor Guard Captain Bob Cranson. The 18th Annual 727 Korean War Veterans Armistice Day Commemoration is a ceremony to mark the signing of the Korean War ceasefire agreement on July 27, 1953, as we honor the enduring legacy of Korean War veterans and stand together in support of peace on the Korean Peninsula. This event was held in the historic Cannon Caucus Room on Capitol Hill and featured remarks from Members of Congress and veterans; Korean traditional performances; and a candle lighting ceremony at 7:27 PM—a powerful moment symbolizing remembrance and hope.

October 1, 2025 Membership Meeting

We will be hosting the August Membership Meeting at the Post Home on October 1, 2025 at 7:30 PM. Uniform for the meeting is the Member Cap or Ball Cap. A virtual attendance option will be sent out to the membership. We are located at 401 Old Waterford Rd NW, Leesburg, VA 20176.

Coming home does not mean the battle is over. With over 10 times the amount of veterans lost to suicide than to combat operations in the same time period, there has never been a more important time to TAKE A STAND and DO something to support our veterans!! If you or someone you know is suffering from PTSD, we have people that have shared a similar experience and are ready to help.

Congratulations to this year's winners of Loudoun County VFW Post 1177's Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen competitions, along with the VFW Loudoun County, Teachers of the Year, Scout of the Year, and Loudoun County Public Servant Awards!!! This year we had entries from all over Loudoun County across all of these categories, and the judging was very, very difficult! These Winners and Honorable Mentions represent the BEST of Loudoun County!! They will all be honored at the 2 April 2025 VFW Post Meeting at 7:30pm! The Loudoun VFW Post Home is located at 401 Old Waterford Rd. in Leesburg Virginia.

Post 7916 - April 2021 #Still Serving Post of the Month

The members of VFW Post 7916 in Occoquan, Virginia, have demonstrated a commitment to their mission of “Honoring the Dead by Helping the Living” throughout the pandemic. The Post made sure members received health and welfare checks so that those most at-risk, or in need, received essentials. They also delivered food to residents of the town and donated to a local food bank.
